Kitchen update...
STILL not finished, but I think (know) some of you are getting antsy, so I thought I'd at least give you a snack. I love the color of the cabinets. It's the perfect french grey color. Don't ask me what color it is though, I mixed it myself from a plethora of other paint I already had...sorry.
I still need to finish the back splash, and paint the walls. I keep saying , "I'll do that today." It hasn't happened yet.
Oh, and thank god the resolution sucks so you can't see how dirty it really is.

So, I got an email noting that I didn't remove the doors before I painted. There are several reasons for this...
1. I'm a lazy bum, and didn't feel like it.
2. Lipstick on pig, remember, so I wasn't too worried about perfection.
3. My hinges are all hidden, so really is was super easy and made sense.
4. I'm a lazy bum, and didn't feel like it.
If you want to get an idea of where we came from here's the before...
Biiiiig difference, right? So that's where we are right now. Hope that satisfies a little of your
curiosity. There of course will be more, once I finally get myself in
gear.
The good news is, the weather is finally letting up a little the next few days. Of course, by letting up, I mean low nineties instead of blister your bum triple digits. But duuuuude, does it make a difference!
Hope everyone has a loverly day!

Great job on your cabinets. I have oak cabinets that are similar to the ones you have. I want to paint them, but I am worried about the grain showing through the paint. How visible is the grain on your cabinets post-paint?
I love the color - I am itching to get back to some DIY (aka my garage is bursting) but alas making $$ seems to be my MO these days...
what a HUGE difference!
Love it.
I never remove cabinet doors, either. :)
I once even spraypainted a pair of Ikea dressers cause Iwas too lazy to do 'em up right. Priorities.
lookin good!! ox
What a huge improvement! Wonderful job!
Huge difference! And painting the backsplash...genius!
I have the same lovely oak cabinets & plan on painting them. But since my hinges are exposed, I have to take the doors off and do them in the garage. And it's just too dam hot right now. That's my excuse but I'm kinda lazy too. I'd rather read all your older posts.
Makes a huge difference... but I still don't understand why you didn't make the MINIMAL extra effort to take the doors off. Why not do the job right?
Anonymous, clearly you have not seen them in person or you would know it really wasn't necessary as they look amazing. 'Minimal' is relative. Her house is huge and judging by the amount she has done and the amount she still has envisioned to do on her home she made the right judgement call. Priorities. Love the kitchen girl! You are making great progress!
What a difference paint makes. Love the color you picked!
Wow! It never ceases to amaze me what a difference a coat of paint can make! Love the new grey color. Looking from the before pics to the after pics your eyes "breath a sigh of relief". Great choice! I wouldn't have taken the doors off either.
Love your blog.
I think that's the perfect gray. Your tile is what the tile in our kitchen looked like. Now we have a nice slate herringbone pattern but the cabinets and pretty much everything at eye level still blows. I guess that's like a pig with a pedicure. :)
It looks a thousand times better! We removed our doors before we painted them and it turned into the biggest project ever so good choice on that one.
After is AMAZING! Great job!
