From Me to You

I'm going to get a little serious today (not typical, I know.)  Nothing crazy, just a wee bit of what-not from me to you.  So, if you aren't into words...you may be excused.   Now, to the three of you left, let's chat, shall we?

This has not been an easy transition...the move from the NYC area to KC.  I'm glad to be home, that's not it, and in all honesty I would do it again, no question.  But, being what I am and doing what I do.  Well, it's not in quite as much demand here in the Midwest as it was out East.  I have to start over completely here.  With less cards in the deck so to speak.  I'm struggling, royally.  I love the quote above because it rings so true regarding my current circumstances.  Things will never be like they were in NYC where everyone has their place decorated.  I need to adjust my expectations and let go.   That was then, this is now.  Forward movement is the only option.

I just thought maybe if I shared my struggles they might possibly mirror your own in some way, and help you know your not alone and to keep plugging.  Whatever the issue.  I have to remind myself of that on a daily basis.  Stop looking back.  Stop obsessing about how it was.  Remember what you have now, and make the best of it.  Easier said than done sometimes, but, still a worthy sentiment and goal.

Thanks for listening, hope everyone has a lovely weekend to recharge and put those fists back up.  Here's to a new chapter.

you are spot on! We're spoiled here in NYC and you're right--there's no comparison between the two. If you keep reminding yourself to move forward, then the process has started. All you need is a little momentum!

I can only imagine what a different world it is in the field...Can I be lame and say that you should embrace the challenge?? Maybe an antiquing date would cheer you up? It would be fun to scour the city together!

Aw man, this week was pretty tough for me too. I swear sometimes it's tough not to compare yourself and your work to other bloggers who seem to never feel stressed or worried. It's good when bloggers are open. Puts things in perspective. Thanks!

And who knows, maybe once you really get going in the Mdiwest everyone will start wanting to decorate their space and they'll come to you for help.

Nicole,
I know it is hard to try to reinvent yourself in a new place. It takes time. Sometimes we have to re adjust our expectations but when we do we find a new way. I think you are in the process of doing that. Good things will come my friend! Good things will come!! Just hang in there!!! I know there is a plan for you. I am going to pray for that for you!!!! Thanks for being real and sharing! We all feel that way from time to time. It's not a perfect world, it only appears that way to those that really don't know the inner trappings. As you get older you will realize that work is work but being with your family is what happiness and success in life really is!

Hang in there. You deserve to allow yourself to grieve over the loss of your old life. Great things are on the horizon. I'm sure if you think back over past challenges you will see that eventually everything worked out for the best. Know that it be just a little time before everyone appreciates the 'amazing you'.

Thanks for sharing, and good for you for expressing the difficulty. As an ambitious person I found that a career change/snag has been the most difficult transition to get through. Your advice about not reading the last chapter is true!! The good news about being ambitious is that no matter what you do, you will do it well!!
