Straight out of the seventies, kids. I'll be honest, it wasn't my first choice, BUT, the price was absolutely perfect (free) so, I knew we could work with it, as the dimensions were exactly what I was looking for. I wanted all of the carving to disappear as much as possible (too busy.) So I painted it black. But, the piece was so large I didn't want just a massive black piece of furniture taking over the entire room, plus, there was a real opportunity for something special...hence, the white framing the black. I am satisfied with the outcome. I think it will really work well once it is "dressed" and the rest of the details come together.
Tomorrow...an update on the rest of the space! We are soooo close to being done! Woo-freaking-hoooo!

Okay, Okay...I see it! Love how you are treating it!
What a beautiful room. Great idea to paint the window frames black. It really feels like I'm looking at a painting of the city.
