Here is a piece I just finished for a client. We have been working our way through the house. She just moved in not too long ago so, she is starting from scratch. The base color is a super, super light grey (almost white) with a slightly darker (not by much) grey striped accent. It needed not to be too strong of a piece in the room...but, painting it plain white was just too dull. Add in a smidge of distressing and you have a winner. Here is what the dresser originally looked like.
Not awful right? But definitely nothing special or even remotely unique.
Ahhhh, much better. Right?

Me likey! I am on the search for a bureau myself.....extra storage please!
So pretty! I'm always scared about painting IKEA stuff because I'm afraid the paint won't take, but this looks amazing!

I know, me too. But, luckily, this wasn't from IKEA. It's actually solid wood so it was a perfect option to paint! I try and stay away from IKEA when doing pieces for clients. ( = Just for that reason.

I love it and all of those drawers.
You're KIDDING me! I could have sworn this was the Hemnes dresser from IKEA! :)

Nope. It's from gothic cabinet. But, I can totally see how you could mistake it. They look super similar. ( ;
