Beekman 1802

Has anyone else been watching the Fabulous Beekman Boys?  We started watching last season and it is such a fun little reality show that centers around two city dwellers who bought a farm (complete with goats) in the Catskills in order build their own brand of healthy, seasonal living.  Some of the scenarios they find themselves in are really hilarious.  My hubby and I find glimpses of our own personalities in these guys, which makes them even more charming and endearing to us.  If you get a chance, check it out on Planet Green.

So, the reason I am giving you background on these guys is, last week, I was so excited to have the opportunity to visit the Beekman 1802 Mercantile up in Sharon Springs, NY (on our way up to Cooperstown, NY.)   It is a small little shop to be sure, but it was fun to be able to see (and smell) the fruits of these two gentlemans' labors.

Notice the goats in the urns flanking the front door of the shop.  Goats are a reoccurring theme throughout the shop, because many of their products are made from goats milk.  So fun.

I am in love with this decrepit mirror.  It is such a fantastic touch, and got my mind thinking about how it recreate it.  I love that the backing protecting the mirror has been peeled off, letting light slip through the cracks.

These sweet pedestal plates were made, I'm told, by Brent's Mother.

The soaps smelled wonderful and there to the right are heirloom seeds in brightly colored, vintage inspired packages.

Here are t-shirts bearing the likeness of Mr. William Beekman, as well as heirloom linens.

More goats!

Totally loving the old painted buffet turned checkout counter. What a wonderful way to re-purpose and update such a lovely piece.

Below, you will find a few more of their offerings in the online shop.

I've never heard of the show, but leaving the city to start a farm is seriously my dream! Great post!

Love this show, and love the guys. Getting ready to purchase Josh's book today for a vacation read! I"m guessing you didn't get to meet Josh or Brent at the store - or you would have mentioned it?!?
