Client Bedroom Partial Install!
This last weekend was spent on a partial install (the wall art, layering, personality are still to come) for a client's lovely bedroom. It is a 50's ranch with all the original features (save the kitchen, which was already redone when she bought it) and we are working our way through the house, room by room.
She is a young and stylish lady who wanted a home that was fun, chic, luxe, and classy. She (self-admittedly) has issues in making a decision, and tires of things quickly (don't we all,) so it needs to be a truly fantastic space that will keep her attention for years to come.
The one thing in the room that I did not have any input on was the wall color. She chose this grey before she contacted me, and when I saw it, I knew that she and I would get along swimmingly. She did very well, I could not have chosen a better color myself.
We mixed splurges with steals, as, with most of us, the budget is nice, but not infinite. The mirrors, nightstands, and lamps are all vintage. I love using unique items like these to give spaces a unique edge. It's so nice to walk into a room and see all the special items that very few people are lucky enough to have. Plus, they are not the "throw away" pieces, that you replace due to poor quality. These lovely pieces can be treasured for many more years to come. Sorry, I just feel so passionate about vintage pieces, and using them for added depth, and to make your home personal and unique.
She also needed a space where she could get ready in the morning and asked for a vanity (I showed you the details on this yesterday.) However, I did not comment on the TV. The girl works for a national TV station and cannot be away from one. She cracked me up, because, there were so many things that were like "whatever, that can go, it's up to you." But, when it comes to the TV...forget it! Love her. So, I think we will be wiring the cable around the door to the left there, and either put it on the wall or on the silver/white dresser. Buh-bye cords. But, for now, the vanity works.
Another HUGE change that will be happening very soon is, all of the trim will be painted white (although I've been toying with painting it the same as the wall color...thoughts?) Like most of us, when you first move in you paint every room, and the idea of having to paint another inch, literally makes you want to jump off a bridge. When I first was hired, I commented we would need to paint all the trim, and I thought I would be fired right then and there. I think initially, she even said "no." Hehe, poor girl. Now, after the install on Sunday, she was like," oooooooohhh, that trim is driving me CRAZY. I think I'm going to have to go buy some paint and start tonight!" Yesssssssss!
So, that is where the room stands now. Next up, the dressing aka styling of the space. I love that part. Throws, art, pics and just general decor goodness is on the way. We are so close to having this baby done. Then we can move on to the next room and make it fabulous too!
