It has been a while since I have come across an artist whose work spoke to me as much as that of Nevin Hirik. Of course, there is the soft and feminine factor that I am always drawn to. But, there is also a depth and vulnerability that is so easy to identify with. These paintings are not purely meant to be beautiful (although they are.) There is almost a melancholy to some of them. And, then others, a coyness. Still others, emote a thoughtfulness that seems so familiar and warm. Do they speak to you, like they are speaking to me?
