It's a Start

So, I have finally moved forward with the bedroom since we will be staying.  As you can see as of now it is pretty bare bones (and a mess.)  I literally, went in to make the bed for these pics.  I already have the new linens, but wanted to wait til the rest of the room is ready before "revealing" them.  I like that "wow" moment when it is all finally finished and you put the proverbial cherry on top.

Anyway, back to the bedroom... I decided that it wasn't going to get finished by itself so, the paint can came out. Why just paint half the wall you ask.  I didn't want to paint the whole wall, and I think it's interesting....plus, it helps to define the headboard without being too dark, and the upper white half will distinguish the cameo piece going up shortly above the bed.  I think the half/half it will be a nice choice in the end, and the ceiling is tall enough to support this look (if the wall were the typical ceiling height, I would not have done this.)

Another thing...I'm sure you have noticed that there are no coverings on the windows.  NO, we are not exhibitionists.  We are three floors up, and there are no taller buildings (that are occupied) in the immediate vicinity, so I think we are safe...the whole if you can't see them, they can't see you idea.  But, never-the-less, I think it's time, just to make the place feel like it is actually lived in.  I have shades already bought and waiting, I just need to physically put them up.  Until now, I have had my focus elsewhere, and let's face it, have been a little lazy.  That may be a project for this afternoon, come to think of it. The fabric for the window draperies is on the way, and I can't wait to bring that extra layer into play.

So, there's the simple version of the game plan.  All in all I'm ready to get this baby knocked out, without taking another 10 months to get it done!  Full speed ahead!

Hi Nichole. I recently found your blog and I think I'm in Love! (with the blog, of course) ;) You seem to have a love for grey like I do! I striped my bathroom in two-tone gray stripes but would love to paint more walls this gorgeous neutral. Great blog. I'll be visiting often and commenting here and there...

P.S. I've shyed away from posting pics of my unfinished rooms on my blog but you inspire me by sharing your works in progress. ;)

Amber-

Weeellll. I'm a big color mixer. Since I needed just a little...I mixed it up out of some other paint that I had...so sorry. It's my way of using all the paint I have (I have a LOT of leftovers from all my projects,) so it doesn't go to waste (plus, it's cheap!) It turned out well though! Usually it does. Sometimes, I have to try again though.
