The plan...

So here is the plan for these...you know how there are tons of "decorative" fireplaces aka old and inoperable but still really pretty.  Well, people need to make those fireplace look good even though they are done with their wood burning days.  So I was thinking of turning these andirons into something that will help people make their fireplace a statement in the room, even if they are only "decorative."  Because, let's face it, a fireplace operable or otherwise, is ALWAYS an asset.

I scored these antique, heavy duty andirons at the estate auction I was telling you about in yesterdays post.  I saw them come up and a really great idea instantly popped into my head, and therefore caused the auction number in my hand to pop up in unison.  Here is the exact picture that flashed across my brain and, more specifically, the andirons displayed in it.  I want to make them look a little........

Whatcha think? I saw this picture years ago, and yet every time I see andirons ANYWHERE it always popped in my head. So, when I had an opportunity to recreate the look, I snapped them up. The question is what color to paint them. OR, am I totally off my rocker. Should I just leave them with their fantastic, antique patina and call it happy. I will be selling these, so IF you were buying what color would YOU be most interested in? Do tell.

They are gorgeous!! I love the antique patina. However, if they were going in my house, I would paint them white (liking neutral colors these days).

mmmm, I think I'd paint them a bright glossy color - maybe yellow. Though I do like the aqua used in Martha's image. You can always repaint them when you change your decor!

They look like little men about to dance away, which reminds me of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, which makes me think of yellow. Although the turquoise is pretty too...I am guessing you have something in mind though ;)
