Golden Girl

This dresser and nightstand set were delivered just this last weekend to their owner, and although I was a little hesitant to do an all gold set, my client (who choose this) totally proved me wrong.  I was feeling a little bit of a Liberace vibe when she said..."I want them ALL GOLD."  I said..."ooookay."  But, picture this...Velvety gray walls, glossy white accents, and these, gilded lovelies.  The girl knew what she wanted and went for it...and I have to say, it's gonna look amazing!  Can't wait for the next project (fabulous white faux-croc upholstered chairs.) Yum!

okay, so i tried to leave the exact same comment 4 times from my cell phone--i am hoping you don't get all of them!

this dresser looks AMAZING! i am doing the same exact color scheme in our guest room, and just scored a dresser/armoire from craiglist that would look FAB liberace gold!
can i stalk you and ask how you prepared the wood, and what paint you used?
or you could just move back, and have a project wating for you!

thanks, freind!!

Thank you SO much ladies! Very kind words indeed!

GiGi- As far as instructions...sand it smooth, prime it, sand again and then, I sprayed a base of gold paint (Rustoleum Metallic). Then comes the fun hand painting. HD has the Painters choice(?) brand. They have a gold color. There is also some at select Lowe's. Here's the deal though. I'm a big paint mixer. I wanted the paint to be thicker, so I mixed two different paints. One of which is no longer made. So, you may have to do a little experimenting. Hope that helps....believe me....wish I could do it for you. Let me know if you have any more questions! I'll help any way I can! ( =

Oh yeah! Poly...very important! I used a oil-based, gloss poly. 3 coats. It really adds to the luster of the gold.
