Our New Home

Holy mother of pearl, am I exhausted. We have just returned from Hobo (my affectionate name for our new city,) and our whirlwind of a home hunt extravaganza. We saw close to twenty places on Saturday...just Saturday alone, and I am glad it's over. We came away triumphant. A three bed/two bath old warehouse soft-ish loft.

These pictures are the place we will be calling home in two short, and crazy weeks. In all honesty, it's not at all what I was looking for. I wanted woodwork, and charm, and ...not a warehouse loft. But, in the end...after much strife and heartache (dramatic, I know) ...it ended up being perfect. I have the warmth and charm from hundred year old wood floors and painted brick (l-o-v-e!) and hubby has the modern and clean feeling of the super high ceilings (14-15ft,) and the fact it has been newly renovated. We are both overjoyed at what we have ended up with...which in the end, was way more that we thought was possible.

Now comes the thrilling undertaking, also known as...decorating! I have all kinds of ideas floating around in this little head of mine. Where to start?!? Only time will tell. Two weeks to be exact. We should officially, be moved in, a couple of days before Christmas. Craziness. I'm beyond excited. I will be bouncing some of my ideas off of you as we go. Can't wait. I love a good challenge. So, there you have it. Our new Hoboken home...can't wait to go!

This is gorgeous. I TOTALLY love it. In a big big way. It's so hip! I have always wanted to live in a loft type setting.

I just listed you as one of my favorite blogs to read. Go check it out :)

I know how you feel. We just moved 4 weeks ago from Florida to northern Ky. It is exciting but overwhelming too. I have been trying to decorate a larger home and something that I am not use to. Your place looks great and I am excited to see what you so with the space.

good luck with your move! i have recently relocated (october 1st) FROM new york (brooklyn) to the midwest (chicago... well, actually evanston). and you're doing just the opposite. as a design professional who worked in new york for 11 years, i know that it can be tough. and just wanted to say that if you need anything, let me know. if you have questions about a firm (i MAY know them, there are thousands in new york), or about the city, resources for materials and construction--i have a pretty extensive contact list. if i can, i'd be happy to help.

now if i can just find someone to do this for ME here... do you know anyone in chicago?!? hehe.

oh, and your place in hoboken looks great. i never lived there, but have done a restaurant project there, and have friends who live there. it has a very neighborhoodie feel to it AND is so accessible to the city.
